Fairs at Chelsea Physic Garden
Chelsea Physic Garden Summer and Winter Fairs
Chelsea Physic Garden has two annual fairs which are its main fundraising events. In 2006 the Summer Fair raised £21,000 towards a new irrigation system which the Garden desperately needs. The 2006 Winter Fair in turn raised £17,417 towards a borehole to ensure a constant water supply.
The Christmas Fair 2007 took place on December 2nd and was a great success. Thank you to all who supported our work by braving the weather and coming along.
- In addition to being crucial fundraising events, the fairs are special days in the Garden's calendar. Normally a calm and tranquil place, the Garden transforms into a vibrant throng of smiling faces and old fashioned ware-selling.
- The cafe opens as usual with additional food stalls throughout the Garden.
- Activities on the Day; The Fairs offer a wonderful family day out with numerous activities for children of all ages including face painting, storytelling, educational workshops and treasure hunting.
- Stalls at the Fairs; Much of the produce is garden orientated and seasonal; From home grown plants, to ornamental pots, gardening equipment and general gardenalia. There are other stalls too including those selling jewelry, numerous food stalls and homeware.
