Volunteer Guides
People visit Chelsea Physic Garden for many different reasons. Its horticultural contents and history are unique and packed with nuggets of information that keep visitors returning. Although many aspects of the Garden are self apparent, guided tours bring the Garden to life to many and add to what is not initially obvious.
As part of the entrance price, visitors are offered tours of the Garden for free, either by audio guide or by a volunteer. The volunteer led tours are much the most popular but are offered subject to the availability of guides. As a result guides are vital to the charity and we are always looking to recruit more.
We are looking for enthusiastic people who can commit a small, but regular amount of time each month during our open season from Easter until the end of October. Potential Guides need to have some horticultural knowledge and a medical background is useful though not essential, full training is given. Click here to see more about the role (Word doc/44Kb).
If you are interested in applying please download the application form here (Word doc/46Kb), and return it to Volunteer Coordinator, 66 Royal Hospital Road, London SW3 4HS.
Training takes place in the spring prior to the Garden opening for the season, so applications which can be sent in at any time, are dealt with during winter.
N.B. Vacancies for the 2009 season is now full and we will be recruiting for the 2010 season from October 2009.
