Friends of the Garden

Become a Friend of Chelsea Physic Garden and enjoy the tranquility of London's secret garden throughout the year.The Garden is closed to the public in the winter, but not to Friends. As we are a self-supporting charity and have no government funding, our Friends scheme also helps to sustain the Garden and support our work in research and education.

A Friends' subscription makes a wonderful gift and helps preserve this historic garden for future generations. There are numerous additional benefits, aside from the year round access. See the Gift Membership section below.

Benefits

  • FREE ADMISSION for Friends plus one family guest* on weekdays (9.30am-5pm) throughout the year, and also on Sundays and Bank holidays (12-6pm) between April and the end of October. Last admission is 30 minutes before we close.

  • Special invitations for Friends' Lectures, held at the Garden
  • Exclusive reservations line for the cafe
  • Free entry to Great Dixter House & Gardens

Our spring and autumn newsletters keep our friends in touch with all the latest news and events at the Garden. There is also a monthly e-bulletin which is a more regular way of keeping up to date. Please provide your email address on the application form if you wish to receive this.

On non-public days, Friends of the Garden should enter via the office door on Royal Hospital Road.

N.B. Friends must show their membership card on entry or they will be charged the full adult admission of £8

*A child aged 5 or over is counted as a guest. A child aged under 5 is not counted as a guest, however please remember the general Garden rule that no more than two under 16s can be admitted per adult.

To become a Friend of Chelsea Physic Garden please print and complete the Friends Membership Form (PDF/490Kb), if you are unable to do so you may send a letter with the details of the potential Friend, along with a cheque for the relevant amount, made payable to 'Chelsea Physic Garden'; to: Friends Membership, Chelsea Physic Garden, 66 Royal Hospital Road, London SW3 4HS, UK.

Gift Membership

To make a gift of Friends Membership, please print and complete the Gift Membership Form (PDF/669Kb).

If you wish to do this in person, please come to the Chelsea Physic Garden office (66 Royal Hospital Road, London SW3 4HS) during office hours (Monday to Friday; 9.30am to 4pm).
