The Garden acts as a seed library for Henry Doubleday Research Association. We grow rare and unusual vegetables and instead of harvesting them, we allow them to set seed, some of which we return to HDRA who in turn distribute them to other growers, thus ensuring the continuity of these rare and unusual cultivars that, over the years, have been replaced with modern varieties.

Other displays include culinary herbs, soft fruits, edible seeds and oils, edible flowers, poisonous plants and those used to make dyes and fibres.
