Queer Herbal Medicine

Sunday 22 February 2026, 2pm-4pm
£20

As a part of our A Dash of Lavender programme where we mark LGBTQ+ History Month, we welcome you to this queer herbal medicine workshop set within Chelsea Physic Garden, a historic garden originally created for the study of healing plants over three centuries ago.

Herbs and queer people have supported each other throughout history and this legacy carries on today. Join us in a herbal walk where we will discover the medicinal properties of herbs through a queer lens.

We will explore the numerous links between plants and queer history, and will explore links and traditional uses of herbs to bend sexuality and gender.

After the walk, we will taste some herbs blindly to discover their effects, and see how they inspire us to create and shape our own stories through creative writing.

About Odhran:

Odhran (they/them) is a medical herbalist based in London. Their practice involves the practical application of herbalism within local communities, researching herbal LGBTQ+ health, and the curiosity of seeing the world from non-human perspectives.

They encourage the exploration of individuals’ subjectively by invoking all the sense, and by playing with the stories we learn and tell ourselves to make sense of the world.
