Thursday 30th January, 11.30am-1pm

Join Chelsea Physic Garden Head of Plant Collections Nell Jones on a special winter tour.

Nell has spent over a decade either working or volunteering at the Garden, and has led the horticultural team since 2017.

Her knowledge and passion for the world-renowned plant collections at the Garden is unrivalled, and her enthusiasm is contagious.

Nell’s tour will feature the usual ‘Behind the Scenes’ favourites, including the historic boatyard – where the Worshipful Society of Apothecaries used to moor their barge after plant-finding expeditions along the river – as well as the potting shed and the tool shed.

We will be visiting many of the glasshouse collections, but one in particular will be the focal point of Nell’s winter tour.

Following on from her recent appearance on BBC Radio 4’s Natural Histories programme, Nell will discuss some of the world’s most endangered plants in our Cool Fernery glasshouse, tracing the evolution of ferns from their ancestral origins more than 350 million years ago.

Ticket price includes three-course lunch at the Physic Garden Café following the tour.
