Tuesday 11th August, 10.30am-2.30pm

During his voyage to Jamaica, Chelsea Physic Garden's benefactor, Sir Hans Sloane, observed the use of chocolate mixed with milk as a remedy.

He licensed the recipe to Mr Nicholas Sanders of Soho, and so the popular drink 'Sloane's Milk Chocolate' came about.

We can't wait to tell you more about the history, geography and science behind fascinating Theobroma cacao - the tree that eventually leads to chocolate!

The day includes craft activities, a Garden tour, chocolate tasting and the chance to create your own mixtures to take away.

For ages 6 - 11

Please note:

  • Children must be accompanied by a ticket-holding adult
  • There is no discount for Friends of the Garden

This event is now sold out.
