For 2018 Studio Cultivate Play Green presents:

‘Storm in a Teacup’

Join us as we lift the lid on the world’s most popular beverage.
During this day long workshop we will explore Tea’s origins in Asia and its bitter/sweet journey across the globe.
We will put our taste-buds to the test as we discover the chemistry behind the perfect cuppa.
We will travel the length and breadth of Chelsea Physic Garden to unearth the secrets of growing the best Camellia sinensis.

‘Storm in a Teacup’ will touch on the history, science and art of all things chai, served with Studio Cultivate’s special blend of dynamic story-telling, dramatic adventure and brilliant botany.

Can a food be a medicine? Can a poison be a medicine? Explore a brief history of medicine and find out about the amazing power of plants to heal and soothe. Learn how to make your own natural and low-cost remedies to soothe insect bites and sun-burn, as well as plant a mini medicinal garden to take-away. For age: 8+
Passion for Plants - 12th August

This is the perfect chance to sow the seeds of interest in the next generation of gardeners and botanists. Bring your little and medium sized ones along to find out about the wonderful world of plants and 'how they work'. There will be a selection of things to take home and nurture. For ages: 3-6

Join us to look into the history, geography and science of chocolate and celebrate this very special plant-based food. The day will includes craft activities, a Garden tour, chocolate tasting and the chance to create your own mixtures to take away. For ages: 6 - 11

CSI: Chelsea - a forensic Biology workshop

Spend a day solving a crime and discover some handy tips from nature. This day is perfect for young scientists who are looking for practical scientific experience. We will also be joined by a professional forensic botanist (Dr. Mark Spencer) who will explain how clues from nature can solve real crimes. For ages: 11 – 15
Recycled Sculptures

Back by popular demand. Working with professional sculptor Michelle Reader, this is a day dedicated to re-using everyday items to create your own brilliant and beautiful sculptures that are based on garden plants and animals. For ages: 8+
