Hag Torches- Mullein Candle Making Workshop
Join us for an unusual evening of folklore and ancient crafting within the walls of London’s 350-year-old botanical garden as we mark the changing of the season and enter the darker half of the year.
As the season gets darker and colder, and the harvest of the year comes to a slow. To accompany us in this turn of the year, we will be making mullein candles to celebrate the season past, and give us light and warmth going ahead. Each participant will make their own candles using a mullein head gone to seed, by dipping them in multiple coats of melted wax. The candles will be decorated with dried petals from the summer harvest, according to each’s creativity.
Please note, we will not be lighting the candles in the Garden. Participants will take their candles home to use when they wish. Please be aware to light them in an adapted environment; they are a fire hazard and should not be lit indoors.
