A physic garden for the future
Throughout the year we will highlight the ongoing importance of plant science to our understanding of climate change and biodiversity, drawing on the Garden’s own experiences as a unique microclimate.
Unlocking our collections
This anniversary year, the Garden will be engaging in its theme of ‘Unlocking our collections’ by sharing new research and stories about Chelsea Physic Garden, its plant collection, and people in its history.
Horticulture for humankind
Chelsea Physic Garden has always championed the role that plants play in human life. Through the theme of ‘Horticulture for humankind’ it will do this in new and exciting ways.
Visitor survey
Thank you for visiting Chelsea Physic Garden. We would love to know a little more about you and your visit. The survey below should take no more than 10 minutes and will help us improve the Garden for all our visitors.
Early Years and Primary School Visits
We currently offer three pre-planned sessions for KS1 & 2 that have been designed to maximise the use of our outdoor space and ensure that we are able to maintain social distancing. We can accommodate 30 pupils, however, in order to adhere to social distancing, it might be necessary to split the class into smaller groups, some of which will have self-led activities.
Habitats
Students will explore the exciting range of habitats at Chelsea Physic Garden, including our pond and log pile. They will learn how to identify a variety of plant and animal species and discover how different species have become well suited to unique habitats. Students will also explore the principle of simple food webs.
Plant Hunters
Armed with a map, scientist’s notebook and magnifying glass, students will investigate the different environments in which plants live and identify some of the adaptations that have allowed plants to colonise these environments.
Visitor Guidelines
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their support during our closure and are excited to welcome Friends and Visitors to the garden again.
