Weird Love After Dark

Friday 13 February 2026, 6.30pm-8pm
£30

On the night before Valentine’s Day, step into the shadows of London’s oldest botanic garden for an after-dark exploration of love, attraction and desire as they truly appear in nature.

Led by Connor the Ecologist, this exclusive night walk through Chelsea Physic Garden delves into the strange, awkward and often chaotic romances of plants and animals in the Garden. Armed with ultraviolet torches, you will uncover creatures navigating attraction, desire and reproduction in ways that are anything but conventional.

Along the way, you will have the rare chance to explore the Garden’s historic glasshouses by night, and take part in a quiz celebrating some of nature’s most unexpected, excessive and downright bizarre love stories.

Come curious, come cosy and come ready to see romance in nature from a very different angle.

About Connor the Ecologist:

Connor the Ecologist is the former Head of Learning at Chelsea Physic Garden, and a Consultant Ecologist overseeing a Biodiversity Audit of the Garden.

He has been surveying London’s dung beetles over the past year so can often be found looking for insects in the grossest of places.

With an aim to help Londoners see “ordinary” wildlife from new perspectives, Connor encourages everyone to take time to appreciate the smallest details in nature and to show love for the often unloved creatures on our diverse planet.
