Chelsea Physic Garden offers one of London’s most striking and diverse natural landscapes for filming and photography. Our botanic garden lies in an enclosed, south facing four-acre site adjoining the River Thames, and is home to an internationally renowned collection of over 4,500 plants from around the world. A unique combination of open-air green spaces, wild and winding pathways, palms, secluded patios, rockeries and historic glasshouses offer an extraordinary wealth of backdrops, for an array of different media briefs.
The Garden is a small, independent charity that relies entirely on donations and self-earned income to continue our work. By choosing to hiring the Garden for your photography or filming project, you help us raise funds to support our horticultural and educational programmes, and safeguard our plant collection for future generations.
Our central London location within 15 minutes’ walk of Victoria, Sloane Square, Cadogan Pier and King’s Road grants convenient transport connections. Battersea Park and its large car park facilities lie a 12 minute walk across Albert Bridge.
Filming
Our central London location and diverse botanic planting offer a convenient, beautiful location for any filming brief. We can accommodate film crews of up to 12 people during our public opening hours, and larger productions when the Garden is closed.

Press / media and documentary filming
If you are looking to feature Chelsea Physic Garden or its plants or history as the subject for your production, or requesting any direct involvement from Garden staff, please make this clear in your enquiry. Discounted rates may apply if there is a material benefit to the Garden’s charitable aims.
Photography
With over four acres of outdoor space, the Garden provides a variety of striking, versatile and idyllic backdrops for portraits, product shoots, group photography and more. We can accommodate photoshoots involving up to 12 people during our public opening hours.

Non-commercial photography
If you are taking photos at the Garden for your own personal use, you are welcome to do so under our ordinary admission policy and public opening times. We reserve the the right to charge an additional fee for large-scale and extensive non-professional shoots.
